Scholarship Dates & Deadlines

SCHOLARSHIPS:

LAMBIRTH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP  This local scholarship is now available in the counseling office.  To qualify you must have a GPA of 2.5 or above and have played at least one sport during each year of high school.  An application and resume is required.  Deadline is April 27, 2018

CALTRANS DISTRICT 3 TRANSPORTATION SCHOLARSHIP  A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded.  The student must be pursuing a career in transportation requiring college instruction or vocational training.  Additional criteria is involvement in school extracurricular or community activities, financial need will be a consideration.  Applications are available in the counseling office.  Deadline is April 27, 2018

SCOTT CALLAHAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:  This $1,000 scholarship is being offered to one graduating senior from Colusa County.  You will need to submit the one page application and a ½ to 1 page essay describing why you are proud to be from your home town.  Applications can be picked up in the Counseling Office.   Deadline is May 4, 2018

COLUSA COUNTY FARM BUREAU YOUNG FARMERS & RANCHERS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM:  To qualify you must be a high school senior and intend to major in agriculture or agriculture field.  Two letters of recommendation must be submitted along with an application which is available in the counseling office.   Deadline is May 3, 2018

COLUSA COUNTY FARM BUREAU VOCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP:  This is a $1,000 Scholarship, Colusa County Farm Bureau requires that the student applying for this scholarship be interested in pursuing their education at a vocational or trade school.  To be eligible you must have a 2.5 GPA or better in the last two years of high school.  To receive the scholarship you must be enrolled in any vocational college.   Deadline is May 3, 2018

COLUSA COUNTY FARM BUREAU RECURRING SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION:  This is a $1,000 four-year renewable scholarship.  To qualify you must have a 3.0 or better GPA in the last two years of high School and at least one semester of vocational agriculture in high school unless a conflict with college prep requirements made the scheduling of a vocational Ag class impossible.  To receive the scholarship you must be enrolled in any accredited four-year college or community college in the broad field of agriculture on a full time basis carrying at least 12 units. An application and transcript are required.  Applications are available in the counseling office. Deadline is May 3, 2018

DEPUTY SHERIFF’S ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

The Colusa County Deputy Sheriff’s Association $1,000.00 Scholarship is awarded each year to a deserving high school senior who plans to pursue a career in local law enforcement.  The student does not have to be graduating from a Colusa County School: any graduate is eligible. The scholarship was established decades ago in honor of Colusa County Deputy Sheriff. The recipient will be selected based on the need and academic ability as well as career goals. A check in the amount of $1,000.00 will be mailed to the recipient and may be used for whatever needs the student has. The student must have at least a 2.5 GPA and provide current high school transcript.  Plan to attend courses in the near future in a college or university that offers a minimum AA degree in the Criminal Justice Field. Proof of enrollment will be required. Complete application submission by May 4, 2018. Can be emailed to jbell@colusasheriff.com, dropped off at the Sheriff’s Office or mailed to Mike Bradwell, Colusa County DSA, 929 Bridge Street, Colusa, CA 95932. Deadline is May 4, 2018

B. DAVIS SCHOLARSHIP: This scholarship is open to all Junior and Senior high school students.  The amount of the scholarship is $1,000.  This is not an academic scholarship, but they would like to know what your future plans are.  To apply you must write an essay of less than 1000 words on the following topic:  Describe the three characteristics of leadership you value most.  Discuss why you believe that these traits are so important and how you feel that they are developed in an individual.  The application and more information can be found at www.studentawardsearch.com/scholarships.htm   Deadline is May 22, 2018

ABBOTT AND FENNER SCHOLARSHIP: This is a $1,000 scholarship, available to all high school Junior and Seniors.  An essay is required and must be 500-1000 words.  Please go to the website to apply.  www.abbottandfenner.com/scholarships   Deadline is June 12, 2018

HORATIO ALGER ASSOCIATION OF DISTINGUISHED AMERICANS: Is offering a scholarship up to $2,500.  To apply please visit application.horatioalger.org   Deadline is June 15, 2018

BIGSUN SCHOLARSHIP:  This scholarship is being offered to help young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits.  This $500.00 scholarship is open to all student athletes regardless of the sport they are engaged in.  An essay of 500 – 1000 words is required.  Please visit the website at www.bigsunathetic.com for the topic of the essay and more information.  Deadline is June 19, 2018
